11 years and still going
« on: April 28, 2018, 01:09:02 PM »
For anyone who thinks these Lawnbotts are just a fad and do not get the job done, boy are you mistaken.  Today starts our eleventh year of not having to mow the lawn!!!!  Yes, 'Junior' has required some maintenance but most were updates to motors.  Brushes needing replaced or Kathy selling upgrades that couldn't be passed up.

Anyhow, just thought I pop in here and let the world know Junior is still mowing and we are sitting on the porch watching the grass be cut.... love it.

I have just started my 11th year as well!!  My path has been similar as well.  A few upgrades over the years.  Brushless motors have been the biggest improvement in my opinion.  Before the upgrade I was burning through a blade motors per year.  I've been lucky, still on the original batteries.  This year on its first run it only ran 30 minutes before it needed a charge.  Now I am getting 3+ hours and hopefully will continue to improve.  I have over 6000 hours on my bot.  If I remember correctly, last year I calculated when it hit 6000 hours that it had travelled 1500 miles in that time!  As you said, these are not just a fad!

Great report, thank you! Parts are still available for your robot, including batteries, motors, blade & wheels. We have most items in stock now.

Also, still going! Just starting the 6th season, and pleasantly surprised that it started right up this spring with no issues. I've gone through numerous blades, a blade motor last year, and a wheel motor, new wheels and chassis the previous year. This year I made a tow hook to easily move the lawnbott for the times it wanders out of border or gets stuck. Picture below...

Well Junior would be doing his 12th year if not for me giving him to my neighbor across the street, after I purchased a new one.  I got an L210 Elite as I wanted brush-less motors.  I still get to watch Junior mow so it's not like he went away.... lol

The new one is named Juniorette (I have 2 female pups)

More to follow as time goes by.

Lagbot,  that is a neat tow hook.  I also made one using the end of a plastic coat hanger, aluminum tape, and a  3 foot section of 1/2 inch PVC pipe.  I just cut a ā€˜J’ section off one end of the hanger and taped it to the pipe.  I do have to hold Juniorette up off the ground when moving it from place to place but it works.
