broken cable
« on: October 29, 2014, 07:35:36 AM »
Hey, guys. It's been awhile since I've been here. I've done my best to search for this topic but I couldn't find it.

So here is my problem: the charging cable that connects to the power source has become disconnected from the piece of plastic housing that joins it to the charger. I'm thinking of soldering it back together as RobotLady says the new cable will cost $60 or so. I'd rather try to fix this as the rest of the cable is fine.

Would a kind soul please post a picture of how the wires line up to this little piece of plastic connector? I would also greatly appreciate any other suggestions on how to remedy this little dilemma.

Here is a picture of my charger cable.  Brown (hot) goes to the first slot in the connector when the little slots are on top of the wire holes.

Hope that helps....

To make sure I get the connector positioned correctly when attaching to the charger unit I marked both connectors with a magic marker.  Couple RED marks made it very easy to line them up.

thank you for the pic.
Mine has 4 wires... not sure what the other two do... I was going to go with what was on my winter charger cable - which looks like yours there.

They are the signal wires.  Let me run out to the garage and I'll see what color wire goes where.  I though you were talking about the charger cable used for overwinter storage.  Be back in a jiff.....

My Charger only wire has Brn, Blu, open, open, open, open
My Signal/Charger wire has Red, Blk, Blu, Brn, open, open.

All wires start at the right of the connector as shown in the picture.  Note the lip sticking up where the wires go into the connector.

Here is a picture of my signal generator/charger unit.  Note that the wire color change from what is used with the Over-winter Charger cable.

In the picture Red and Black would correspond to Brown and Blue in the charger cable picture.  The center two (Lite Blue and Lite Brown are the signal wires.

Also note that the connector orientation has changed from one picture to the other.
