Battery replacement
« on: July 07, 2014, 05:57:30 PM »
Is anyone interested in a non-KA battery replacement solution?  I have been toying around with the idea of offering this to the masses.  I have been using a non-KA battery for about a year and it works great.  It is a different battery chemistry (LiFePO4 instead of Li-Ion) which offers a bunch of advantages which I won't go into now but if you are curious you can read up on it.  There are some differences in the rated Amp-hours which I will fully explain if I decide to offer this as a solution.

And, yes, the new battery is much cheaper (even with a new charging unit) - you can't charge an LiFePO4 battery with a Lithium-Ion charger.

Anyway, what are your thoughts and how many batteries do you have installed in your robot?  Just curious on this since in some models you can have up to 2 and in others you can have 3 (two standard size and a third flat version).

Can you imagine having to replace 3 batteries all at once?  $325 x 3 = $975. . . . .
