Locating break in perimeter wire

Should you get a break in your perimeter wire you may want to consider getting a Speaker Probe and use it to trace out the break. Just leave the signal generator on and check both sides of the charger house. You should only get a tone on one side. Starting on the side with the tone move the probe around the wire until you don't get a tone, then back up. Shouldn't take long to locate the break. If you have a large lawn start at the center of the wire loop, then the center of the loop with the signal. Continue that way to locate the break. Either way should work. A probe that has been suggested is the Aines model 250SSP Station man Speaker Probe, cost around $45.

We've used the Cen Tech cable tracker from Harbor Freight (online or retail). It is cheap and works well for the most part. One time we used it and the wire went underground for a portion. It stopped picking up the signal, so if your wire is buried it might not work.

In my experience, you can use the lawnbott transmitter and just use the induction amplifier to pick up the signal. Just make sure you disconnect one side from the charging base, as the signal can be picked up from both directions.
