Chopper's retirement
« on: March 01, 2012, 03:07:38 PM »
With a hail cracked display (works but is cracked by feel and visually) and many hours (mostly digging trenches) I think it is time for at a minimum a reduced workload.
Chopper never really mowed the whole lawn. By the trees on two sides and street on the other two provided about 15k sqft or so I'd always have to push mow. For a week after any heavy rain id have to push his part too. He refused to deal with thatch, rake or do anything with leaves and pine needles. So I caved and got a mower with a dethatcher and powered vacuum. Wow it was easy to cleanup the lawn! I gotta go again as the leaves  continue to fall. not sure if it is the weird weather or weird texas trees. I hope to convert it to electric next winter so that'll take some feeling sick about the situation away.
Now chopper had an ok run. Upgraded nearly every year since the evolution at what cost I dont want to think about. Not sure if I am going to just limit the area to the rarely stuck places with reduced run time or not. Nearly everyone  around knows about the mower and it is a little part of the july 4th town parade that ends in front of my house and much talked about along with the solar water heater so my wife was thinking about keeping it until it stops working.  Maybe it'll save me time mowing sometimes and keep bothering the neighbors dog :)

Well I've tried to use chopper twice since I got a riding mower and both times it involved alot of perimeter wire hunting. It seems a big front deck mower, a bad yard and attachments on said mower aren't compatible with where I have the wire buried in some places. Near some pecan trees (awful things but "protected" here) the soil is so loose the dethatcher or the front wheels alone of the mower deck dig in and screws up the wire.
Soo.
If anyone is looking for a 3510 (upgrade from a 3500 which was a replacement/upgrade of a 3200). Motor blade has <100 hours and is the new kind where you can replace the brushes. Regular wheels. Rear display has a slight crack but legible. Not sure messaging here would work as I'm not on much but you can email me at my user name @gmail.com if you have any interest or have any questions.
My wife didn't want to get rid of him but if we use the money towards her tri bike maybe it'll change her mind. Ok probably not the bike maybe a wheel.
