Dividing an Area
« on: April 16, 2010, 11:30:39 AM »
Suppose you wanted to divide a large area into two small ones.  Oscar the Lawnbot on another forum came up with an ingenious idea that really works.  By creating a 'boot' layout at your dividing point you can not only stop the bot from going into the other area but make sure it doesn't get caught into a loop when it's time to return.  The neat trick is that the bot can't make the sharp turn at the toe of the boot which in turn causes it to overshoot and pickup the outer perimeter wire.  Once it does that it's on it way home.... can't beat that with a stick....
Here is a diagram that can be used as needed:

Some people will require a larger gap between the boot legs so to make it work for just about everybody increase the distant from 6-8 inches to 12 inches.  See diagram above.
