Missing Charger Nut
« on: April 20, 2011, 05:35:02 PM »
While watching Junior return after mowing the yard I noticed that one of the charging nuts had come off.  When he got to the charger he entered, backed up, and started another trip around the yard.  I quickly shut him down and carried him back to the charger.

After making sure the contacts were touching the bolt with the missing nut I turned him back on, entered the password, and waited for him to start charging.  He just sat there and all of the display lights went out.  I then stop/started him, re-entered the password, and pressed Run.  This time he started to do his spin/sync procedure while he was inside the charger.  If I pressed Charge he would go into Winter charge.

To get him to charge correctly I had to pull him back out of the charger, stop/start him, re-enter the password and then hold his wheels up off the ground until he was finished doing the spin/sync.   After that he displayed, seeking charger.  So while still holding him up off the ground I pushed him into the charger until the charging plates made a good connection.  The bolt would only make contact at the very front of the charging plate so I couldn’t let him enter on his own.  At that point he decided he was in the charger and went into his normal routine of charging.

Now all I to do is wait for the new Nut that I ordered to arrive.

Apparently a couple of the bushes along his path rubbed the nut loose and after a while it fell off.    Where it landed is anyone’s guess.
