Title: Cracked Shell
Post by: cullen on April 30, 2010, 12:37:51 PM
Anyone have any thoughts on repairing a cracked shell on a Lawnbott 3200?  Robbie got something caught between the wheel and the shell and managed to create about a 4 inch crack which goes to the edge.  So far the adhesives I've tried using didn't work particularly well - I haven't tried epoxy yet, though.

I haven't fixed any of my cracks yet (but mine is just a small crack in the center of the top back area).. but I would guess fiberglass would probably be the best repair material.  Not the easiest to work with, but it's pretty strong.

I have successfully used Epoxy to repair my shells.  I actually have two shells for my Evolution - I had picked an extra one up because my first one got cracked pretty bad.  I had two cracks on either side of the robot by the wheels.  I've been using the repaired shell this season and so far it has held up without an issue.

I will move the post I made on the other forum to this one, but check out the post related to my latest height mods - I had offered to repair shells and repaint a different color if people wanted to do that.  The shell that I repaired I also repainted a metallic blue - looks awesome and fits with the Indianapolis Colts too :).
