I have read the old threads, tried both the 16x16x16 triangle and the 28.5x26x21 triangle and every convievable combination. I also left 6+ ft of staight wire on either side of triangle as the manual mentions.
Spent hours outside yesterday trying to get Bubba to cut across the yard.
Most times he simply makes a tight turn and follows the wire.
A few times i could confuse him enough to come off the wire and he would do a 360-400 degree turn, but even when he did that, he found his way back to the wire and continued on.
Does anyone have a video of a bot doing a rapid return? Or an explanation of what the bot physically does? Does he spin like i described? Is he supposed to just continue driving off the tip of the triangle? This might help me understand what im trying to get him to do.
Is there a better way to get this to work?
I would Really like this to work, any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I have a rapid return working. I don't have a video of it but if I have some time this weekend I'll take one and post it. The robot turns into the triangle, hits the top point and makes a sharp turn back towards the bottom of the triangle. It hits the bottom, turns back straight, goes about a foot or 2, stops, makes a 45 degree turn and heads off until it finds the wire again.
In my experience, it is the sharp turn that the robot takes at the top of the triangle, followed by the turn back to the right that triggers the rapid return logic.
When I post the video, remember that my robot goes backwards on the wire but other than that the rapid return should work the same.

I just got the same advise from robotlady....i was doing everything right, but i wasnt waiting until he got to the bottom of the triangle...for some reason i thought the re entry point would be at the apex of the triangle....i waited a few seconds longer and it works fine....i used the 28.5x 26x21" triangle.
I passed a video on to robotlady as well...it is too big a file to post on here.
Thanks for the help though.
